about

Recorded in July 2013 in New Delhi, India. After talking for a few minutes Saskia and I sat down and began to play together. She showed me a lot about how to use slides in a new way and also that the physical form of the cello is not limiting. She has a 5 string cello with 16 additional sympathetic strings. She changed the structure of the cello to suit her own needs. She has been studying Indian Classical music for the past 15 years and is married to sitar player Shubhendra Rao. After we finished playing she gave me the contact of a woman who ran an orphanage where I performed the following morning.
